Cat is up for parole. His violent temper means that a fight 7 years ago left a man dead and Cat behind bars. With Ashley Duke, his slick, ivy-league counsellor helping him to confront his demons he is optimistic about his chances of finally leaving the daily hell that is prison.

However, when Cat blows his shot at parole after a violent clash with a gang of inmates, Ashley suggests another way out; a simple exchange. If Cat agrees to kill Ashley's wife, Valerie, he will guarantee him freedom.
